In August 2016 I was fortunate enough to attend the Celebration of Craftsmanship exhibition, the prize for winning the Alan Peters Award for Excellence for my 'Oak Within' sideboard. Between dropping the piece off and turning up for the first day of the exhibition, to my surprise I found out that I had also won the Best use of British Timber award! So much more than I could have hoped for but thrilled to have had the opportunity to win two highly respected and prestigious awards. The perfect way to start my career in fine woodworking.

What the judges said:

“An ambitious piece that was extremely well executed.  We loved the fabulous yet simple, slightly oriental, visual concept which promises a subtlety that is then delivered through the deception of the doors and drawers on the front lapels.  Alan Peters would have loved to have run his hand across the sycamore cloak that beautifully compliments the oak that it wraps around.”

“The remarkable quality of this piece displays an exceptional range of skills.  An aesthetically imaginative design with immaculate craftsmanship. A craftsman for the future.”
